FENTAK® are specialty additives for use in the wood processing industry. The business line was acquired by MÜNZING in 2018 from HEXION. The products are used in a number of applications, including decorative and industrial laminates, wood panels and engineered wood. All products are specifically designed to either help enhance the properties or appearance of the final product or improve the production process. Standard products include release agents, wetting agents, resin catalysts and dyes as well as more specialized products such as plasticizers and surface modifiers.

FENTAK® AD31906 is specifically desgined for addition to Melamine Formaldehyde resin systems used in the impregnation of papers for both High-Pressure and Low-Pressure Decorative Laminates. It is formulated for compatibility with resin systems to provide excellent clarity. FENTAK® AD31906 is Aluminium Oxide free which makes it less abrasive to press plates and treater components. Addition at the recommended rate provides a substantial improvement in scratch resistance of the laminate surface for use in applications where moderate wear resistance is required. Ideally the modified resin should be applied to the paper surface in a two stage treating process.

FENTAK® AF31918 is a cost effective defoamer for the control of foam in high speed impregnation lines where PF resins are used.

FENTAK® FC31459 is designed specifically for addition to Formaldehyde based resin systems used within the decorative and industrial laminates industries. It is readily miscible in water and is stable at the high temperature environments encountered during pressing. FENTAK® FC31459 shows good compatability and stability with Phenol Formaldehyde impregnation resins, in particular, showing no signs of flocculation or foaming. As an added benefit it gives increased UV resistance over conventional black dye liquids.
