2nd Shift Chemical Operator / Packer
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position reports to the Production Supervisor, and is responsible for performing all day-to-day activities involving Material Handling, Batch Making and Packaging functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Batch Blending, Reaction, Packing Batch
- Safely use standard forklift, pallet jack and hand cart to load, unload, and move product
- Material Handling and Packaging functions – filling, lifting, rolling and labeling drums and pails of hazardous chemicals by following detailed procedures
- Completing required paperwork for product batches
- Keep work area clean and organized and ensure equipment is kept in clean, working order
- Adhere to OSHA standards and safe work practices at all times
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, and previous experience in shipping, receiving, material handling is a must; preferably in a manufacturing environment in the Chemical industry
- Forklift certification and/or ability to successfully complete forklift training
- Basic math and computer skills
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and Safe Work procedures
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with co-workers and supervisors
- Self-starter with the ability to work under minimum supervision, be highly motivated, and enjoy working as part of a team
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to work an eight (8) hour shift in a fast paced, chemical manufacturing environment. Overtime will be required at times
- Must have the ability to lift, push/pull, and carry up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods of time, climb stairs or ladder and frequently walk, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, and generally perform physically demanding tasks
- Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to, hard hats, steel toe cap boots, and company provided uniform
